Grilled Tri Tip Sliders with Caramelized Onions and Chipotle Aioli
Serving these flavor-packed sliders at your next cocktail party is sure to make your guests smile. They can be served warm, sliced straight from the oven or chilled and assembled in advance for simplicity.
Grilled Tri Tip Sliders with Caramelized Onions and Chipotle Aioli
Yields approximately 15 sliders
Tri Tip
3-4 lbs. tri tip strips
Sweet mesquite
Paprika
Salt
Pepper
Season tri tip with sweet mesquite, paprika, salt and pepper to taste. Roast at 500 degrees for 8-10 minutes, cooking to medium rare. Slice thin against the grain.
Caramelized Onions
2 yellow onions, sliced lengthwise
3 t. olive oil
Heat oil in pan. Add onions and sauté over medium heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring as needed to prevent burning.
Chipotle Aioli
1 c. mayonnaise
1 pepper from canned chipotle peppers in adobo, plus 1 t. sauce
3 T. mesquite seasoning
1 T. paprika
1 t. garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
Puree ingredients together in a food processor.
To serve, layer aioli, tri tip and onions onto a slider bun.
