Submissions for Publication Consideration

San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles magazine and www.sandiegohomegarden.com welcomes submissions of homes and gardens for publication consideration. Please review the information below on the categories we cover.

When sending photos, please provide the name of the photographer and indicate whether SDH/GL has permission from the photographer to publish them free of charge. If SDH/GLneeds to obtain high-quality images, access to the property must be granted to an SDH/GL photographer.

Properties that are not in San Diego County, that are for sale or have been featured by other local/regional publications are ineligible for consideration.

For home features, we want to see a collection of images showing the exterior of the home and multiple rooms inside. For initial consideration, the images do not need to be of high resolution, but bear in mind that quality images show homes in their best light. Please also provide a brief description of the residence, including the neighborhood/city in which it is located, the year in which it was built (and remodeled, if applicable) and the name(s) of the architect, designer and/or builder, if applicable. Submissions may be sent by email to wgeneres@sdhg.net or by mail to Wendy Generes, Editor, San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, 4577 Viewridge Ave., San Diego, CA 92123.

For residential garden features, we want to see a collection of images showing a variety of plants, groupings and vignettes in the landscaping. It’s fine to include hardscape areas, but bear in mind that the focus of garden features is on plants. Please indicate the neighborhood/city in which the property is located and, if applicable, the name of the professional landscaper. We do not require gardens to be professionally landscaped, but they should be well tended. Submissions may be sent by email to wgeneres@sdhg.net or by mail to Wendy Generes, Editor, San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, 4577 Viewridge Ave., San Diego, CA 92123.

For Spaces We Love, we want to see at least a couple of photographs of the space taken from different angles. Please indicate the neighborhood/city in which the home is located and a brief description of the space and why it’s your favorite spot. Submissions may be sent by email to ditler@sdhg.net or by mail to Eva Ditler, Managing Editor, San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, 4577 Viewridge Ave., San Diego, CA 92123.

For the Before/After department, we want to see “before” and “after” photographs of a particular room, area or project either inside or outside. “After” photos should be taken from the same angles as the “before” photos so that comparisons are easy to make. The photographs must be of high quality. That means the resolution must be at least 300 dpi and the images should not be overly dark or show cluttered spaces (such as countertops covered with pantry items or personal effects and floors strewn with toys). Please indicate the neighborhood/city in which the home is located and the name(s) of the architect, designer and/or builder responsible for the remodel, if applicable. Submissions may be sent by email to ditler@sdhg.net or by mail to Eva Ditler, Managing Editor, San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, 4577 Viewridge Ave., San Diego, CA 92123.

For whole-home remodels, projects must have been completed within the last two years. Ideally, projects feature architectural and design makeovers of exteriors and interior rooms. We want to see “before” and “after” photographs of the exterior and multiple interior rooms. “After” photos should be taken from the same angles as “before” photos so that comparisons are easy to make. The photographs must be of high quality. That means the resolution must be at least 300 dpi and the images should not be overly dark or show cluttered spaces (such as countertops covered with pantry items or personal effects and floors strewn with toys). Do not send photos of empty rooms or rooms under reconstruction. For clarity, label photos “before” and “after” with location descriptions (bedroom, exterior front, etc.). Please indicate the neighborhood/city in which the home is located, the name(s) of the architect, designer and/or builder responsible for the remodel and a description of the scope of the remodel. Teardown/rebuild projects and remodels where the footprint has changed so drastically that comparisons are difficult or impossible to make will not be considered in this feature category. Submissions may be sent by email to ditler@sdhg.net or by mail to Eva Ditler, Managing Editor, San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, 4577 Viewridge Ave., San Diego, CA 92123.
