In the spirit of Halloween, Marina Kitchen’s advanced sommelier and bar manager, Joshua Orr, created a spooky-looking cocktail that is perfect for your Halloween party. He suggests that it tastes best when you have a bite of the dark-chocolate shavings, and then take a sip.
The 13th Floor
2 oz. pecan-infused Jack Daniels whiskey (recipe follows)
1/2 oz. sweet vermouth
1/2 oz. Heering cherry liqueur
1/2 oz. orange juice
Splash of water
Shake all ingredients and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist and dark-chocolate ribbon shavings. (Marina Kitchen uses 65 percent Valrhona dark chocolate.)
Pecan-infused Jack Daniels Whiskey
Place 2 1/2 cups of pecans in a container with one 750 ml. bottle of Jack Daniels and let it sit for a minimum of 72 hours. The longer the infusion time, the stronger the pecan flavor will be.
